Mark W. Newton, M.D., F.A.A.P., is a professor of clinical anesthesiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and director of Vanderbilt International Anesthesia and Vanderbilt Anesthesia Global Health and Development. He is a pediatric anesthesiologist at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt and chair of Department of Anesthesiology at Kijabe Hospital (Kenya). He has been involved for more than 20 years in anesthesia and surgery development in East Africa, where he and his family live full-time.
