Billy G. Hudson, Ph.D., is Elliot V. Newman Professor of Medicine, director of the Center for Matrix Biology and a professor in the Departments of Biochemistry, Cell and Developmental Biology, and Pathology, Microbiology and Immunology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. His research focuses on ancient collagen proteins that compose basement membranes, a specialized form of extracellular matrix that underlies epithelial cells.
