Myrick C. Shinall, Jr., M.D., Ph.D., is an associate professor of surgery and medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and assistant chief of surgery for the VA Tennessee Valley Health Care System. He practices as both a general surgeon and palliative-care specialist and conducts clinical research on supportive care interventions for vulnerable surgical patients.
